WHO IS RATEHUB?

We’re a company on a mission - We are a unique Canadian Fintech that is the one stop shop for all financial needs of the consumer - Save, Spend, Borrow, Invest, and Protect. Every single team member, from product & engineering to sales & marketing, finance, operations, and everything in between is obsessed with one thing;  helping Canadians make better financial choices. And we’re pretty great at it, too. Via our digital application technology and our award-winning in-house brokerages, we help over 2M Canadians per month make a positive impact on their finances. We have many unique businesses - a mortgage brokerage, a life insurance brokerage, a home and auto insurance brokerage, a mortgage originations and servicing business, a Financial Services Marketplace and a content business across Ratehub and MoneySense. 365 days a year we deliver our users the best online mortgage experience, personalized Credit Card and Loans options, and cheaper life, auto & home insurance policies than they typically get from their existing financial adviser.

Changing how people make financial choices isn’t easy, though. We know that achieving our mission is full of challenges; challenges that can be complex and often unexpected, but that are always interesting, rewarding, and fun to solve as a team. This is where you come in. We are on the hunt for the right kind of people to join us and help lead us forward to continued growth.

We are looking for a Finance Manager to own the operational accounting and financial reporting backbone of our brokerage businesses. This role sits at the intersection of finance and operations — you will be the person who understands how deals flow through our CRM, how revenue and cost gets recognized, and how to build the processes that make our numbers reliable and our close efficient.

This is a hands-on role. You will be doing the work, not just overseeing it. You will also be the person who identifies what is broken and fixes it — building systems, automating manual steps, and creating clarity where there is currently noise.

If you are energized by bringing structure to complexity and take pride in the integrity of financial data, this role is for you.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

Accounting & Controls

  • Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process for our brokerage operations within our CRM and subledgers

Operational Data & Reporting

  • Own the process of extracting, validating, and reconciling operational data from our CRM and other source systems into reliable financial outputs

  • Identify and resolve data discrepancies between operational systems and financial records; work cross-functionally with sales and operations teams to address root causes

  • Build and maintain management reporting that connects operational metrics to financial performance — revenue by carrier, by product, by channel

  • Track KPIs that give business unit leads visibility into the drivers of their financial results

Process Transformation & Automation

  • Identify and implement tools and workflows that drive efficiency in revenue recognition, month-end close, and KPI reporting. Leverage automations to ensure accurate and timely reporting
  • Build systems and processes that reduce manual effort and increase accuracy and speed across the finance function
  • Leverage Salesforce and other platforms to connect operational and financial data for more effective reporting and analysis

Financial Planning & Analysis

  • Assist with the annual budget and quarterly forecast processes for the Mortgage and Insurance BUs
  • Assist with the pricing analysis and modeling for the brokerages, including rate competitiveness, margin optimization, and industry specific economics

Team Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of financial analysts
  • Model the right culture — hands-on when needed, strategic when it counts

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of overall finance and accounting experience required, with time already spent as a manager within a Finance/Accounting function
  • Financial operational experience within industry required - you understand how commission-based revenue works and how deals flow through a CRM into financial records. Demonstrated experience building and refining processes and systems. Mortgage industry experience a HUGE plus!
  • Hands-on experience working with Salesforce — understanding how to extract, interpret, and connect CRM data to financial reporting and revenue analysis
  • CPA designation strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to operate as a finance business partner to operational leaders, not just a reporting function
  • Executed on system implementations and process automations to create efficiencies within the finance function
  • Strong financial modeling skills with the ability to translate complex data into clear executive-level narratives
  • Excellent Google Sheets/Excel skills
  • The right attitude for a PE-backed, high-growth environment — you are comfortable with ambiguity, energized by pace, and willing to do the hard work yourself while building the team around you
  • You can zoom out to lead and zoom in to execute — switching between ground-level detail and big-picture strategy without losing altitude on either
  • Prior people leadership experience — you know how to develop analysts and build a team
